Double Two During May

modified: Last week, Hania Richmond showed Double Two beginning dancers the continuous weave to a hand shake hold to sweetheart and fly swatters. Intermediate dancers were treated to continuous weaves to a wrap, a shoulder catch, and an inside man's reverse. Would you like to know what those terms mean? You’ll have to ask Hania this Wednesday when she continues teaching Double Two.

new: Night Club Kicks Off Summer at SNC

Kick off summer with SNC Secretary and dance community staple Julie Hein as she teaches the Night Club Friday, June 6. Julie is keeping quiet on what she has in store for the class. (She’s even keeping it secret from her fellow Happenings editors.) A crowd pleaser, dance instructor and now-retired teacher, Julie will also be teaching the June Wednesday evening Night Club lessons.

Is Modus Operandi the latest hot move in the dance world? Is it something you’ll get arrested for if you reveal it in public? Neither. It’s a class designed to teach you how to move so all of your dancing is improved. The class will focus on skills that apply to multiple dances in order to dance better, move better, look better, lead better, follow better, interpret the music better, and so much more. Come reveal your Modus Operandi at the June 20 dance.

new: First SNC Food Drive

Swing N Country is having its first Food Drive, in support of the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. For each item of food you bring to the June 20 dance, you will receive $1.00 off admission to the dance. There is no limit to the amount of food you can bring, but there is a maximum of six items per person that can be used towards the cost of the dance. More details will be provided as the date draws closer.

May 30 – June 1: Circle City Classic. Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites. Indianapolis, Indiana. Event Directors: Mark Bradburn, Melissa Culbertson, Dennis & Carol Waite. Featured instructors are Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollman. This is a fully sanctioned UCWDC world-qualifying event which is only a three to four hour drive from the Chicago area. June 12 – 14: Brickyard Boogie 2008. Ramada Inn. Indianapolis, Indiana. Event Director: Michael Lamb. This event is a no competition, strictly social dancing weekend. Although West Coast Swing will be the primary focus, there will be a sprinkling of Bop/Boogie, East Coast, Hustle, Night Club, Cha Cha, Salsa, Waltz, and Two Step.
