modified: Two Step Lessons on Wednesdays in April

For the month of April, Jeff Sanchez is using the theme “Using your body and its natural movements...combined with correct positioning to make your dancing effortless and fun.” Jeff’s goal is to give make Two Step easier and more comfortable for both leaders and followers. And judging by the number of people in the photo above, the classes are an overwhelming success.

Get a preview of May’s dance of the month! Angie Cameron invites you to join her for a Hustle lesson at this Friday’s SNC dance. See her dance Hustle at MadJam and you’ll get an idea just how good she is.

Reminder that there will be a 50-50 drawing at this dance, with half of the proceeds going to the 1st place winner. The 2nd place winner will receive a month of Wednesday lessons, and the 3rd place winner will receive free admission to a Friday dance. This is almost as good as getting stimulus money!

Don Macdonald, the featured instructor for May, will be tearing up the floor with his Hustle lessons on Wednesdays and at the dance on Friday, May 1. Check him out dancing Hustle at a recent Dance Camp.

But that’s not all! One of Chicago’s favorite people returns for a lesson at SNC’s dance on Friday, May 15. (Please note that the cost for the lesson that evening is $10.) Kristin Ham and husband Monty will be teaching the lesson before the dance that night, in addition to offering private lessons all weekend. Swing ’n’ Country’s third annual Gently Used Clothing Sale is about a month away. Dig out those dance clothes you haven’t worn in months. Boots and shoes are welcome too. Men, this includes you! If you think someone else would enjoy wearing what would otherwise be sitting in your closet, bring it to the Gently Used Clothing Sale. More details are coming soon.

April 23 – 26: Swing Dance America 2009. Grand Geneva Resort and Spa, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Lots of workshops, lots of open dancing, competitions in both Swing and Hustle in two ballrooms. May 29-31: Circle City Classic. Marriott, Indianapolis, Indiana. Fully-sanctioned UCWDC event. We have SNC members competing at this one.

Mondays: Jill Popovich teaches Pilates in Arlington Heights starting at 7:00 pm. Pilates helps dancers of all levels learn to move their bodies more efficiently, resulting in smoother dancing, longer endurance, and more flexibility. You will feel better too!
