“Fall” back into dancing with SNC starting in Sept.!

The wait is over. SNC returns to its twice-monthly dance schedule starting this Friday, September 4. Hania Richmond will open the fall schedule with a Two Step lesson. We’ll be joined by special guest DJ, Bob Boyle. If that’s not enough incentive, SNC is offering free volunteer points to those who attend the opening dance. Accumulating volunteer points can get you free admission to dances, free dance lessons or even free admission to Dance Camp. Join us for a fun and entertaining evening.

new: Two Step Lessons with Hania Richmond Begin Wednesday September 2

Swing ‘n’ Country favorite Hania Richmond will teach the quintessential country dance, Two Step, on the first four Wednesday evenings of September. Hania is well known for attention to detail and for her carefully structured lessons for both beginners and intermediates. Check out her biography where it is noted that she has coached three dancers to Pro-Am world championships!

August 26: Saturday. Chicago Dance News hosts a Country and West Coast Swing dance…with a “touch of ballroom” at Ballroom City, 207 S. Villa Ave., Villa Park, 60181. The 8:30 pm lesson is followed by open dancing from 9:00 pm until midnight. (map)

Mondays: Maren Oslac teaches a four-week series of West Coast Swing through the month of September at Heart & Sole Dance Studio, 7038 183rd St., Tinley Park, 60477. WCS 101 begins at 7:00 pm and is followed by WCS 102 at 8:00 pm. (map)

Mondays: Jill Popovich teaches Pilates in Arlington Heights starting at 7:00 pm. Pilates helps dancers of all levels learn to move their bodies more efficiently, resulting in smoother dancing, longer endurance, and more flexibility. You will feel better too! Out of Town Happenings

September 4 – 6: Music City Country Dance Challenge. Renaissance Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee. Kevin Johnson is the Event Director. Sunday night there is a pajama party. We have some SNC competitors attending in this fully sanctioned UCWDC event.

September 17- 20: Meet Me In St. Louis. St. Louis Renaissance Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri. Join our friends the St. Louis Rebels for their annual dance convention. Maren Oslac is on staff. Contact Leah Noparstak if you’d like to sit at the SNC table or, for more information, visit their website.

October 8-11: Boogie by the Bay. This is one of the best events on the NASDE circuit. Great dancers, great competition, great music. The Chicago Rebels has a table at this event. To purchase a ticket, contact Nancy Tuzzolino by phone at 312-953-3336, or via e-mail.

October 30-Nov 1: Swing City Chicago. The Westin Lombard. World Swing Dance Council. Spend ten minutes with a pro and make a difference: The All-Star Studded Hour is back! Hosted by Maren Oslac, Jeff Sanchez and Julie Hein.

November 27-29: C.A.S.H. Bash Weekend. Hilton Garden Inn, Twinsburg, Ohio. Staff includes Sophy Kdep, Jason Miklic and Doug Rousar.

January 4 – January 10, 2010: Worlds XVII Country Dance World Championships. Opryland, Nashville, Tennessee.
