modified: September 19: Saturday. The Chicago Rebels hold a West Coast Swing Party at the Centre at North Park 10040 Addison Ave., Franklin Park. There will be concurrent intermediate/advanced and beginner West Coast Swing lessons from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, followed by open dancing until midnight. (map)

September 25: Friday. X Dance holds its second September dance at The Centre at North Park, 10040 Addison Ave., Franklin Park, 60131. April Prince DJs. Doors open at 7:15 pm. Instructors are TBA. (map)

September 26: Saturday. Heart & Sole Dance hosts a DJed Disco Party with a Hustle lesson. The party begins at 7:30 pm with costume prizes, giveaways and snacks. The studio is located at 7038 183rd St., Tinley Park, 60477. (map)

September 26: Saturday. Chicago Dance News hosts a Country and West Coast Swing dance…with a “touch of ballroom” at Ballroom City, 207 S. Villa Ave., Villa Park, 60181. The 8:30 pm lesson is followed by open dancing from 9:00 pm until midnight. (map)

modified: October 29-Nov 1: Swing City Chicago. The Westin Hotel, Lombard. Now you can “Dance with the “Early Birds” on Thursday night from 8:00 pm to midnight. To sit at a table with your friends, contact Leah Noparstak. West Coast Swing Jack and Jill competitors earn World Swing Dance Council points. Hosted by Maren Oslac, Jeff Sanchez and Julie Hein.

Mondays: Maren Oslac teaches a four-week series of West Coast Swing through the month of September at Heart & Sole Dance Studio, 7038 183rd St., Tinley Park, 60477. WCS 101 begins at 7:00 pm and is followed by WCS 102 at 8:00 pm. (map)

Mondays: Jill Popovich teaches Pilates in Arlington Heights starting at 7:00 pm. Pilates helps dancers of all levels learn to move their bodies more efficiently, resulting in smoother dancing, longer endurance, and more flexibility. You will feel better too! Wednesdays: Hania Richmond teaches Two Step in September.

September 17- 20: Meet Me In St. Louis. St. Louis Renaissance Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri. Join our friends the St. Louis Rebels for their annual dance convention. Maren Oslac is on staff. Contact Leah Noparstak if you’d like to sit at the SNC table or, for more information, visit their website.

October 8-11: Boogie by the Bay. This is one of the best events on the NASDE circuit. Great dancers, great competition, great music. The Chicago Rebels has a table at this event. To purchase a ticket, contact Nancy Tuzzolino by phone at 312-953-3336, or via e-mail.

October 16-18: Paradise Country Dance Festival. Sheraton Suites. Pomona, California. Paradise in Pomona? Several local dancers are trying this one on for size. Best of dancing to them!
