Maren Teaches West Coast Swing in January |
Maren Oslac, one of Swing 'n' Country's favorites, will be teaching West Coast Swing on Wednesdays and at the first Friday dance. Maren is the owner of Heart & Sole Dance and the founder of the Illinois Ballroom Teacher's College.
Origin of West Coast Swing: This dance had its origin in California in 1930 by a man named Dean Collins. Dean danced in New York at a place called the Savoy. He moved to the Los Angeles area hoping to get into the movie business and brought his "Savoy" style of swing with him. Pretty soon he was winning contests and everyone wanted to learn his style. Yes, Dean did get into a few movies.
All lessons are dances are held at The Centre At North Park. See lesson and dance times below.
