
Carlos Garcia started partner dancing in 1988, soon after
the time Dirty Dancing the movie premiered. Before that he was a
champion breakdancer as a teenager in Junior High and High School.
Carlos next passion was the Jitterbug/LindyHop/East Coast Swing which he
developed in Virginia in the mid to early 90's. While living in Virginia
he assisted top local instructors in teaching their classes. He learned
from them and started teaching on his own in 1994. Eventually, he was
introduced to Country Western style dancing, Hustle and West Coast
Swing.
Since competing in West Coast Swing competitions he has won over fifty 1st places. These include all categories of competition: Routines(both with and without lifts and drops), Strictly Swings, and Jack&Jills. Among his titles are: Mid-United States Swing&HustleChampion, Chicago Classic Rising Star Champion, and Michigan Classic Champion.He has even won several contests as a follower. His students are winners as well, beating out other tough Pro-Am students(of national and world champions)for top placements in Swing and Hustle
