Julie Hein is a retired 8^th grade teacher and an active member of the dance community at large (Country, Swing, Hustle, even some ballroom!). She is a social dancer, a competitor, and a dance teacher.  She has taught at Swing'n'Country for seven years and at Cadillac Ranch for 15 years. She and her dance partner Merry Chapman  placed second overall at the World Country Dance Championships in 2003 and 2004 in the Silver Division with World Championships in Triple Two, Polka, and West Coast Swing.

She is a founding member of Swing ’n' Country and has contributed extensively to SNC in various functions: 

• Secretary (5 years)
• Editor/Writer of SNC News (10 years)
• member of DDC Steering Committee [competition chair and writer for the Gazette] (6 years)
• Special Events Committee (5 years).
